What is Nutanix Unified Storage?
Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) delivers file, object and block storage from one software-defined platform. Nutanix Files provides SMB and NFS file shares, Nutanix Objects provides S3-compatible object storage, and Nutanix Volumes presents block storage over iSCSI to physical servers and databases. All three run on Nutanix clusters and are managed from Prism.
Moving file servers, NAS appliances and object stores onto one platform cuts the number of systems to patch, monitor and back up. Snapshots protect against accidental deletion, immutable (WORM) object buckets keep backup copies safe from ransomware, and replication copies data to a second site. Nutanix Objects is also a common target for Veeam backups.
